Are you interested in fashion design or modeling? Then the Normal West Fashion Show is just the place for you! After a great performance last March, our normal west fashion show is getting back in action with meetings every Monday, beginning Monday August 26th at 3:30pm in Room 215. NCWHS Student Announcements – Tuesday, September 3, 2024
Attention girls’ basketball players! Normal West Girls basketball open gyms will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting today after school. You can see a calendar and get announcements related to girls’ basketball by signing up for the Google Classroom using code rb3e76f. See Coach Ostling with any questions!
Students: Guest forms for homecoming are available starting Tuesday Sept 3rd in the main office, if you are bringing a guest from another school. The deadline to turn in the form is Friday Sept 20th @ 3:30. All information must be filled out on the form. No exceptions.
Attention Juniors and Seniors! If you are interested in applying for membership in the National English Honor Society, please pick up an application from Ms. Mackinson in room 122. You must have a 3.75 cumulative GPA and at least a 3.75 GPA in high school English classes. Applications must be submitted to Ms. Mackinson by 3:30 on September 20th.
Ewing Manor will be closed on September 28th for a Wedding, no one will be allowed on the grounds.
Homecoming dance tickets are on sale starting Sept 3rd. See blue fliers around the school to purchase. Again, guest forms are due Sept 20th @ 3:30. West Students will use their Student # from infinite campus to buy a ticket. Guests tickets will require a code that is given once your guest form is approved.

Wildcat Student Parking *** Only students with a 24-25 parking sticker are allowed to park in the student lot. Violators will be reported to the office and notified. If the violations continue, the office will follow the parking matrix for discipline. Parking lot Matrix
Students are NO LONGER allowed to go out to their cars during the school day. If it is an emergency (determined by AP), an Assistant Principal will escort the student to their car.

Attention all boys interested in open gym at Normal West! We will be starting open gym sessions, and it's a great opportunity to get some practice in before the season begins. If you're interested in participating, please stop by the IMC today to pick up a document that lists all the dates and times for our open gym sessions. We will also offer a jumping program at the tail end of each session for free! Don't forget, the first open gym is tonight from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. See you on the court! NCWHS Student Announcements – Monday September 9, 2024
Adventure beckons! Come check out the Outdoor Adventure Club. No experience necessary, no attendance requirements. Make some new friends while you try new, fun, and exciting things with us! Talk to Mr. Lehr or Mr. Piepenbrink with questions. First meeting is Friday 13th at 8 am in room 2012.
On Tuesday’s half day, seniors will report directly to the auditorium for first hour and stay through third hour for part of our college and career readiness plan. Jostens will be there to talk to seniors as well.
Attention Juniors: Interested in being on the Junior Powderpuff Cheer Team? Stop by room 234B to pick up the form. There will also be forms hanging in the junior hallway. All forms must be submitted by Wednesday, September 18th. Please see Mrs. Haywood with any questions.
Want a study hall and don't already have one? You may request one by picking up a green course change form from the counseling office. You can only have one study hall per semester by dropping an elective class. The last day to request a study hall is Friday September 13th.

In celebration of Homecoming week, the annual Wildcat Volleyball game will be on Monday, September 23rd, starting at 6:30 with warmups just after 6pm in the big gym. Want to play on your class’s team? Signups are this week during lunch. The first 12 to sign up will make the team! Cost is $5 and can be paid with cash the night of the game. To all Wildcats, kick off Homecoming week by watching your fellow ‘Cats compete for bragging rights and see whether the staff team can hold their own against the top-class team! For those attending the Homecoming dance: make sure you bring your student ID (as well as your guest if you have a guest from another school). Tickets are live, so a screenshot will not work to enter. Cash tickets will be available at the dance as well.
Have you ever wanted to be the center of school spirit? Do you like to entertain? West is looking for someone to be our mascot! If you are interested – please see Mr. Temples in Athletics or Ms. Nichols in the IMC.
The Normal West Homecoming parade takes place this Wednesday and will be setting up in the parking lot closest to the pool all day. Please be aware that it will be off limits to park in this area. Thanks!

From September 15th - October 15th, Hispanic Heritage Month commemorates the contributions of Hispanic and Latinx Americans. To celebrate, discover these amazing books on display in the IMC — spanning from memoirs to graphic novels — by some of our favorite Hispanic and Latinx authors.

The speech team is gearing up for another season and is looking to gain more interested members. You will have the chance to share your voice with others about a topic of your choice while competing against other schools throughout the season. There will be an information meeting for new and existing members next week on Thursday, October 3rd after school in room 134 in the junior hallway. Everyone is welcome to join. Congratulations to the Normal Marching Band on its third consecutive Class 6A state championship! They competed at ISU on Saturday, and in addition to winning their class, they also qualified for overall finals and won awards for outstanding music and outstanding visual performances. Way to go!
All Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors interested in trying out for the 2025 Normal West Baseball teams, there will be a Mandatory Informational Meeting on Thursday, October 24th. Choose either 7:55-8:25am in the Senior Cafeteria or 3:35-4:05pm in the Cafeteria. Be sure to bring a writing utensil and let your fall and winter sport coaches know in advance. Charles Stevenson Brown II received 6th place in Impromptu Speaking and 5th place in Extemporaneous Speaking. Great job to all the competitors. The Normal West Bands Annual Craft Show is this Saturday, November 23 from 9-2. Get a head start on your holiday shopping while enjoying festive music from the Bands' Winter Choirs! There will be over 100 booths selling something for everyone on your list, plus concessions and a bake sale!
The Bloomington-Normal Asahikawa (Ah-Sah-He-Kah-Wah) Sister Cities Committee is looking for their next year-long exchange student to Japan. Current Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors are welcome to apply at BNSistercities.org. Candidates must submit an updated transcript and two letters of recommendation along with their application.
