NCWHS Announcements – Monday, August 28th, 2023

Some sports news:

1. Congrats to varsity VB on their 3-0 start.   Get out to watch this exciting team play

2. Congrats to varsity FB on their week 1 victory.  The wildcats play BHS this Friday

3. G. Tennis is off to a great start with their 1st home match this week

4. Boys and girls cross country opened the season with a gutty performance last weekend!

Attention Seniors - don't forget to sign up for the Senior Google Classroom.  This will be used throughout the year to communicate with seniors about senior events.  The code is vei36o6

Do you love acting? Are you good at thinking on your feet? Maybe you're passionate about sharing info and persuading others! If so, speech team is for you. Join us for an informational meeting on Wednesday, September 13th from 3:35 - 4:15 in room 1008. See Señorita Evans or Ms. Wiist with questions.

Best Buddies is a group that's dedicated to creating one-to-one friendships for individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities (IDD) at Normal West. Every month we will meet once or twice as a group, and you will also meet once or twice with your buddy. If you're interested in being a peer or associate in Best Buddies, please attend one of our informational meetings on Wednesday, September 13th or Thursday, September 14th in room 113 from 3:40-4:00. Contact Mrs. Peterson or Ms. Lueschen if you have any questions.

Dance team tryouts for the 2023-24 Wildcat Dance Team will be September 7-9 from 5-7:30 in the multipurpose room.  Those who are planning on trying out for the dance team are encouraged to attend a free dance clinic, August 24 from 4-6 in the MP room.  There is a guest instructor from Lindenwood University Dance Team.  A parent/student informational meeting about the Dance Team will be held August 25 from 7-7:45 in the IMC. 

Attention Seniors - this Friday is the last day to purchase a senior t-shirt or sweatshirt.  More information on how to order is available on the Senior Google Classroom, the Normal West website, and on signs throughout the school.

There is an informational meeting of the Model UN Club on Wednesday, the 30th of August In Dr Bierbum’s room at 8am to 8:20am. Basketball Open Gyms begin Tuesday, September 5, 3:45-5:30 p.m. in the south gym. Open gym schedules can be found at the front desk in the IMC or by visiting the boys' basketball website:  https://sites.google.com/unit5.org/normal-west-boys-basketball/home/open-gym-schedule_1  If you have any questions, feel free to contact Coach Hafermann at hafermae@unit5.org.

Hey sophomores, would you like to meet other students in your class? Would you like an opportunity to serve and lead the class of 2026? Then sophomore board may be right for you.  If you are interested in signing up, check out the

Google Form found on Infinite Campus.  The deadline for signing up is Friday, September 1st at 3:30.  For any questions, contact Ms. Primo or Mrs. Becker.

If you're interested in participating in Art Club, please join our google classroom (code: ginubdn) or stop by rm 113 to find out more information. Our first activity will be on Thursday, September 7th from 3:30-4:30 in rm 113.

The Normal West Boxing Club will have an informational meeting on Wednesday, August 30th in room 109 right after school.  If you have any questions, please see Mr. Rumps.

Calling all Freshmen! If you are interested in getting involved with some Wildcat leadership, check out the Freshmen Board today before or after school in room 110 for a 10-minute meeting. Meetings will be at 8am and 3:35pm. Hope to see you there!

Attention all Junior and Senior students! Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society is currently accepting applications. If you are interested in joining and are currently enrolled in your third full year of a math course you can find the application by joining the google classroom with the code 7e4qpul or pick up a paper copy on the bulletin board outside the math office (room 201). Email Ms. Kraus with any questions (krausm@unit5.org)

Are you a volunteer or need some service hours? If so, Key Club is the place for you! We meet once a month and participate in school and community service opportunities. Our first meeting will be on Wednesday August 30th at 8:10am in room 206. Email Ms. Kraus with any questions.
