NCWHS Announcements – Monday, September 18th, 2023

Attention all West students! HoCo guest forms are NOW available in the main office! They are due back to your Assistant principal on September 29th at 3:30. These forms are for any NON West student to attend our dance. 

*Please remember that they are due back to your assistant principal, fully completed, by September 29th at 3:30pm. No exceptions will be granted!!

Attention Seniors.  Nominations for Homecoming Court are now available.  The link is on the Senior Google Classroom.  If you have not joined the Senior Google Classroom the code is vei36o6 (that's the letter o not the number 0).  Nominations are open until Thursday at 3:30.

Are you interested in learning about other cultures of the world? The Asian Heritage Club will be meeting this Friday afternoon in Room 110 from 3:35 - 4:15 to eat mooncakes and discuss the Autumn Festival and plan out other activities. You don't need to have an Asian background to participate in this club. See Dr. Bierbaum with questions.

Calling all Juniors and Seniors! National English Honors Society is now accepting applications for the 2023-2024 school year. If you are interested in being in National English Honors Society, please pick up an application form outside of Ms. Ruff's classroom, room 128. The deadline to turn in applications is Friday, September 22.

Art Club will meet on Tuesday, October 3rd from 3:30-4:30 in room 113. 

Ludacris and Flo Rida are performing LIVE at the Corn Crib on Friday, September 29th.

Monday - Adam Sandler day
Tuesday - country vs country club
Wednesday - Jersey day
Thursday - Barbie day/Pink out
Friday - West spirit day
REMINDER: All school handbook policies,specifically School Dress and Code of Conduct, still apply on all spirit week dress up days with the potential for school consequences being issued for any non-compliance to these policies.

PRIDE Club will have our first meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 27th in room 1008 until 4:30. See Señorita Evans or Mrs. Long with questions.

Do you know of a teacher, staff member, or classmate who deserves some recognition? If so, here is your chance to nominate them for "catching the kat-itude." Please fill THIS form out to have your nominee recognized. Make sure to place your nominations in the correct question--the staff member/teacher should be nominated as a staff member/teacher and a classmate should be nominated as a student.

Want a study hall and don't already have one? You may request one by picking up a green drop form from the counseling office. You can only have one study hall per semester by dropping an elective class. The last day to request a study hall is Thursday September 28th.

Ewing Manor has a wedding during Homecoming (10/7).  No on property photography that day.

Ready for something new? Does camping, hiking, rock climbing, cave exploring, paintballing, kayaking, skiing, or snowboarding sound like something fun to try? Come check out Outdoor Adventure Club for our 1st meeting on Friday 9/22 at 8am in room 2012! Bring friends and ideas for what we should do this year. No experience necessary and you only come to the events that you want! See Mr. Piepenbrink, or Mr. & Mrs. Lehr for any questions.

1st Annual Intercity Volleyball Supply Showdown starts Saturday, Sept 23rd flyer LINK.  Join us for the volleyball games scheduled at Normal West High School and bring your donation items or cash donations for the Humane Society. Donation items will be counted along with cash donations and the school with the most supplies/cash donations will win the showdown.

Interested in joining D&D Club? Come to the IMC after school on Tuesday, Sept. 19th for our informational meeting. We will meet from 3:30 to 4pm to learn about D&D and how the club works. See Mrs. Unsbee in Room 1004 with any questions.

In celebration of Homecoming week, the annual Wildcat Volleyball game will be on Monday, October 2nd, starting at 6:30pm in the big gym. Want to play on your class’s team? Sign ups are next week! Listen up next Monday for more details in the announcements! 

Last year's 2022-2033 Normal West Yearbook will be available for pick up Tues.9/19 and Wed. 9/20 3rd-6th hour in the atrium for current students. Students will need a photo id and have to had previously purchased a yearbook. Students CAN NOT pick up another student's yearbook. Attention Junior Powder Puff girls: We will be having a meeting Thursday, September 28th from 3:35-3:45 in Room 1005 to discuss upcoming powder puff practices and the game. We will have practice Monday, October 2nd and Tuesday, October 3rd from 3:45-5:15 next to the Champion Fields Parking Lot. Please make the necessary arrangements at work. Remember, you need to be at all of the meetings/practices to be eligible to play in the game Wednesday, October 4th. Please see Mr. Klokkenga for your permission slip and please bring it completed to the September 28th meeting.  Any questions, see Mr. Klokkenga.
