NCWHS Announcements – Tuesday, September 6th, 2023

Looking to get involved here at Normal West?   Want to get connected with other students who have similar interests?  The Club and Activity fair is this Friday during lunch periods in 150A.  Students are encouraged to go to the fair during the lunch periods to explore different opportunities here at Normal West.  

Do you love to read and talk about books?! Join the Normal West book club -- Booked for Breakfast. Our first book club meeting will be this Friday, September 8th starting at 7:45 a.m. in the IMC. Breakfast provided! Anyone is welcome! Hope to see you there!

Attention Juniors and Seniors-College and Military reps are starting to come to Normal West!   You can view the schedule and sign up on Schoolinks.   We are expected to have around 40 different colleges and military reps visiting this fall.  Juniors and Seniors that have signed up in advance are welcome to attend.  You can learn more by checking your email or Counselor Google Classroom. 

Are you interested in helping to collect, preserve, and celebrate Normal West history? Have you ever considered a career in a museum related field? The Normal West Archive Project might be for you. We will have our first meeting this Wednesday after school from 3:35 - 4:00 in room 110. See Dr. Bierbaum with questions. 

The Normal West Chess Club has separated from the chess team this year. Interested in chess, but don't feel confident to compete? Chess club is for you. We will meet once a month in the IMC after school. If you are a chess boss, the chess team needs your help. We are looking for more Wildcats to flex their skills in competition.  Join the Google Classroom by scanning a QR code on a chess club poster or swing by room 121 and see Mr. A for information on either option. 

Youth Action Board is comprised of a dedicated group of high school students focused on increasing awareness surrounding drug prevention and education. We are currently looking to recruit some new members for the upcoming school year.  Please see the attached flyer and follow the directions for applying for the Youth Action Board if you are interested.

Attention Seniors - don't forget to sign up for the Senior Google Classroom.  This will be used throughout the year to communicate with seniors about senior events.  The code is vei36o6

Attention Junior and Senior Powder Puff players.  You can purchase your PowderPuff jerseys during lunch hours in the atrium the week of September 11th. Jerseys can be purchased on Tuesday, September 12th after school in the atrium due to the shortened school day.  The cost for the jerseys is $20.  You must pay for your jersey before you get your number - numbers cannot be saved!  Questions - see Mrs. Hafermann in the IMC.

Do you love acting? Are you good at thinking on your feet? Maybe you're passionate about sharing info and persuading others! If so, speech team is for you. Join us for an informational meeting on Wednesday, September 13th from 3:35 - 4:15 in room 1008. See Señorita Evans or Ms. Wiist with questions.

Best Buddies is a group that's dedicated to creating one-to-one friendships for individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities (IDD) at Normal West. Every month we will meet once or twice as a group, and you will also meet once or twice with your buddy. If you're interested in being a peer or associate in Best Buddies, please attend one of our informational meetings on Wednesday, September 13th or Thursday, September 14th in room 113 from 3:40-4:00. Contact Mrs. Peterson or Ms. Lueschen if you have any questions.

Dance team tryouts for the 2023-24 Wildcat Dance Team will be September 7-9 from 5-7:30 in the multipurpose room.

Attention all Junior and Senior students! Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society is currently accepting applications. If you are interested in joining and are currently enrolled in your third full year of a math course you can find the application by joining the google classroom with the code 7e4qpul or pick up a paper copy on the bulletin board outside the math office (room 201).
